Millions of rupees corruption alleged in PSQCA affairs

Islamabad , : Millions of rupees corruption has been alleged in the affairs of Pakistan Standard and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), a sub-department of the Ministry of Science and Technology, sources said on Thursday.
The sources further said PSQCA officials from bottom to top are allegedly involved in the corrupt practices and misuse of power.
Despite cases are in proceeding against many officials and officers of the department, they are working at their designated posts and drawing their salaries. The sources said that the Ministry of Science and Technology is unable to take strict action against them due to flaws and shortcoming in the law.
They sources added that as many as 23 officials had registered complaints against each other in 2012 but the ministry could not take action against the corrupt PSQCA officials so far.
The ministry officials, during a meeting, revealed that the action against the corrupt officials could not be taken due to flaws in the respective law. The officials who have been involved in cases against each others are drawing their salaries without performing duties.
Talking to Online, Committee Chairman Senator Mushtaq Ahmed accepted that the department caused a great financial loss for the ministry. He said due to delay in action against the officials allegedly involved in corrupt practices, others also taking advantage of the situation.
 The committee chairman also directed the relevant authority to take decision against corrupt elements.
