Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has said that Pakistan is marching ahead on the path of fastest development and prosperity under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, despite all the obstacles of the opposition. He said that our federal and provincial governments are serving the masses with great devotion. “We working in the whole province, including Swat, in a long-term development process, however, now we are facing a big challenge to overcome the backwardness of the newly merged tribal districts and soon we will also be successful in this big cause of removing the backwardness of tribal belt”, he added.
He was addressing the opening ceremony of Sui Gas’s big development project at Balogram in Swat. This new and large pipeline with 12 inch diameter is 104.2 km long from Mardan to Swat. The project will greatly help in solving the long standing issue of Suigas loadshedding and low pressure in the area on permanent basis. The project cost is Rs. 2276.5 million.
The ceremony was attended by Provincial Minister for Mines Dr. Amjad, Chairman DDAC Swat Fazal Hakim Khan, Members National Assembly Saleem ur Rehman, Junaid Akbar Khan, Members Provincial Assembly Azizullah Gran, Mian Sharafat Ali, Pir Musawar Ghazi, Deputy Commissioner Swat Saqib Raza Aslam and other senior officials as well elite of the area in a large number while local people expressed great pleasure on the completion of this SuiGas project.
Mahmood Khan said that this important project of Suigas has resolved the big problem of gas pressure being a long standing demand of the people of Swat district. However he said that the developmental efforts of the suigas department are also appreciable, but the problem of over-billing against the people is alarming on which Sui gas officials must pay full attention. He said improving the supply of electricity in Swat is another goal to achieve, as he said, the issue of voltage could only be addressed by laying double circuit power supply line to resolve it permanently, on which PESCO must be serious. He said that he wanted to ensure rapid development of the Malakand division including Swat. “Today the People have started feeling a clear difference in the work of the past and the current governments”, he said.
In reply to the welcome address by the MNA Saleem ur Rehman, the Chief Minister clarified that the new hospital of 500 beds in Saidu Sharif will be inaugurated during this June, for he has approved about 600 new vacancies. He said that Rs 2 billion were allocated for medical equipments and machinery for this hospital. The contractors who were not paid will be given their outstanding arrears of Rs.100 million.
Mahmood Khan said that he is also aware of the issue of admissions in Swat colleges and work on it is going on seriously. He said that the federal minister of communication is also from Swat so this tourism-replete valley is being connected with the modern communication system. He said it has been decided to expand Swat Motorway to Mingora immediately after its inauguration, on which work is being started, so that all the highways of this paradise on earth can be opened for the tourists’ world over.
Earlier, GM Sui Gas Company Taj Ali Khan and Regional Incharge Mir Waiss Khan gave detailed briefing to Chief Minister about this mega scheme.
